Because of our commitment, we are reinvesting a portion of every dollar we earn back into our local food communities in a two-part process: buying food from local growers and putting that food on the tables of those in need. We believe this is a practical solution to two key problems within our local systems.
Southeast Georgia, The Cornucopia Of Good Food
As I was driving home through Southeast Georgia recently, I found myself reflecting on all of the wonderful stories we are and have been able to share. I never cease to be amazed at the wonderful and resilient people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting through my work with Southern Soil.
I find myself a bit in awe at the vast amount and variety of foods that are available right here from local sources. And by “here”, I don’t just mean in the state of Georgia, I mean right here in our little corner of the state.
Lunch at the Creek
Tasting some great wines, enjoying a well-told story (or five), eating delicious food, spending some quality time with my sister in a beautiful location … it’s another hard day of work putting together content for the next issue of Southern Soil!
I spent some time this morning out at Watermelon Creek Vineyard in Titus (near Glennville). If you haven’t checked out this winery, which also includes a great little restaurant, you’ll want to!
