An Innovative Approach to Advertising

“Conscious Consumerism”

WHAT IT IS. WHY IT MATTERS.

HOW WE CAN HELP YOU CONNECT.

“Conscious consumerism” is a term making its rounds in the business world and in economics. It’s a growing movement of consumerism that places value on values. Consumers have way more options today then ever before - both on the types of items they can purchase as well as the types of companies producing those items. Many consumers today are choosing to make purchasing choices based not only on the products/services they are interested in (or need) but also on the values of the companies providing them. Consumers are “shopping” for the right businesses to support with as much interest as they are shopping for the right products/services.

What a conscious consumer cares about is unique to each consumer, but some of the top issues of concern include things like: fair trade, living wages for employees and high standards of safety in the workplace, environmental impact, social justice, animal welfare, and corporate responsibilty.

This is not a set of consumers that you reach by being the loudest voice in the room, the biggest billboard, the cheapest price, the deal of the century! The days of effectively advertising in that way are (happily) fading away.

Our audience and community built around Southern Soil very much consists of the conscious consumer. So, our approach to advertising is a new and innovative method. We are curating a select group of businesses and organizations to be a part of our community and to have an opportunity to develop trust and loyalty through transparency and open communication with our audience.

To our audience, we commit to only inviting businesses to join our community that have demonstrated a commitment to one or more of the following principles: supporting their local community through service, commitment to protecting and improving the environment through business practices, and engaging in direct (or indirect when appropriate) support of the local sustainable food system to which they belong.

To our advertisers, we commit to working with you to help you connect with the right customers. You won’t reach the widest audience, we won’t help you shout louder than your competitors; but we can help you stand out from the crowd by bringing you into a more selective space where consumers don’t judge a “good deal” by how many corners are cut to create a cheap price tag.

There are companies that know there’s more to business than making a buck and there are consumers that understand that spending less isn’t always a bargain … we’re here to help connect the two!

Let’s grow together!
